Extraordinary Sportsmanship!
Yet another example of why we are extremely proud of this young footballer. Let’s set the scene. Max was in the middle of the first half of the weekend’s game when the referee stopped play to allow the opposing team’s keeper to tie his shoelace. The ref then motioned to the keeper’s defenders to come to his aid. None did. The keeper then attempts to remove his gloves.
It’s at this point where Max stuns not only the crowd, but the opposition. He ran from centre of the pitch toward the keeper… and then this happened (watch video below).
Some people define good sportsmanship as the golden rule of sports — treating the people you play with, and against, as you’d like to be treated yourself. But sportsmanship isn’t just reserved for those on the pitch. It’s a style and an attitude, and it can have a positive influence on everyone around you. What Max did here exemplifies extraordinary sportsmanship. He went on to score 2 goals and 1 assist. And earned the respect of his team mates, the opposition, parents and spectators.
